History of Immersion

Foresight Immersion is now in its tenth consecutive year. Originally named the Urban Sustainable Design Studio, the program began as a one-month training in January and morphed into a longer summer training in 2005. The program was designed to be a hands-on foray into the complex and challenging world of sustainability, and expose participants to the potential of design as a problem-solving methodology.

As a non-profit organization designed to catalyze a sustainability culture shift, Foresight Design Initiative offers education, business, and consulting programs. The organization was an early driver of Chicago's sustainability movement, which it began supporting in 2003 through Green Drinks events. Foresight continues to be an important hub for sustainability initiatives and organizations and change makers throughout the city. Immersion participants benefit from Foresight's broad network and trusted role within the Chicago community.
