Topic
The Truth About Weatherization

One of the key components to the City of Chicago’s ambition Climate Change Action Plan is to retrofit 400,000 residential homes by 2020. However, at the current rate of residential retrofits, this task would take over 60 years to accomplish and with issues of equity, energy, and economic development at stake, many questions remain.

How does home weatherization relate to green collar jobs? Is there a market for private companies in the weatherization business? Since many of the homes with high-energy use are owned by those who can least afford the investment cost, how can we make weatherization affordable for consumers?

Hear how people in the field balance social and economic considerations with preserving our planet. Join us June 17th to discuss the complex issue of weatherization, and how lessons drawn from navigating this issue can be applied to the broader sustainability movement.
