We’re going backward. Growth isn’t always about more. Foresight started its high school summer program for diverse sustainability-minded change makers with a single, two-week course. Over the subsequent four summers, we added additional seminars and recruited more students. While proud of the legacy we forged, my colleagues and I weren't content. Fostering more engaged, nimble, informed, resilient and dynamic leaders is essential to achieving greater social equity, environmental vibrancy and responsible economic prosperity. Investing in such talent should be essential to every organization with a concern for the future. I've become a better designer, if not also person, by teaching and learning from these next generation innovators. Upon reflection, it occurred to us that working with significantly fewer, not more students, and sustaining relationships over a longer period of time, will better achieve our objective. The Foresight Prep @ Oberlin program is powerful and unique in its demographics and approach. More than a summer opportunity, we’re creating a multi-year leadership accelerator that will be supported by and draw upon Foresight’s extensive professional network. Hopefully, this includes you. Know a passionate, engaged teen seeking to broaden their change-making skill set? Know a company or individual who wants to support the participation of a student who otherwise couldn't afford to attend? I invite you to join us by reviewing the program website and/or emailing my colleague Tim to get connected.
