Since May 1 of this year, more rain has fallen in Chicago during this stretch than in any year since 1871, according to the National Weather Service. This spring's downpours (and extreme heat) are another reminder of the local impacts of climate change, which will continue to bring more intense and frequent storm events, and the imperative to pursue both mitigation and adaptation efforts.
